CESO partnered with Utility Safety and Design Inc. (USDI) to support DTE Vantage in the design and development of a 10,000-linear-foot natural gas pipeline—an effort that underscores the community’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions. The pipeline connects two City of Dayton facilities: a municipal solid waste landfill and a wastewater treatment plant, both equipped with methane capture systems.

MARKETS: Energy

DTE Vantage operates a processing facility at the landfill, where methane is collected, scrubbed, and converted into renewable natural gas (RNG) for reintegration into the natural gas distribution network. To expand this initiative, the City of Dayton installed an additional methane capture system at the nearby wastewater treatment plant, enabling gas to be transferred via the new pipeline to DTE Vantage’s processing facility. Together, these facilities represent a meaningful step forward in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and turning waste by products into valuable, community-serving resources.

We provided comprehensive survey and civil engineering support for the pipeline alignment, including topographic surveying, easement documentation, and key construction-phase planning such as stormwater pollution prevention and maintenance of traffic strategies. This project reflects a rewarding opportunity to support environmental stewardship while leveraging our technical capabilities to create a resilient, resourceful outcome for the region.
