Chantry Drive Sidewalk Improvements
For years, a missing stretch of sidewalk along the north side of Chantry Drive left pedestrians navigating an inconsistent route between neighborhoods and destinations. Recognizing CESO as a trusted partner, the City of Columbus engaged our team to close this critical gap, creating a continuous and safer corridor for walkers, joggers, and people using mobility aids.

The project began with an alternative alignment analysis, where our project team studied various solutions to determine a path that maximized connectivity, respected existing site constraints, and promoted safety for all users. This due diligence set the stage for a design that applied technical expertise to meet community needs.

The final plan delivered 1,700 feet of new, five-foot-wide concrete sidewalk thoughtfully integrated into the existing roadway environment. CESO also incorporated ADA-compliant curb ramps, driveway modifications, and minor bridge adjustments to foster consistent accessibility. Stormwater quality measures and traffic signal updates were also woven into the design, strengthening infrastructure performance beyond the sidewalk itself.

By filling this critical gap in connectivity, our solutions-driven design improved more than just Chantry Drive, but the larger pedestrian network connected to it, prompting safer travel while advancing long-term mobility and infrastructure goals for the entire area.
