Kemba Credit Union
When Kemba Credit Union set out to expand, they wanted to evolve the branch model established in their 2016 new-build project into a more modern, effective solution. They wanted a space that felt modern, welcoming, and true to their brand while supporting a better experience for their members and employees.
After a competitive selection process, Kemba chose CESO to partner with and bring that vision to life, beginning with a new location in South Lebanon, Ohio. Rather than simply designing a new building, our team helped establish a new prototype built to be adaptable, scalable, and support Kemba well into the future.
Starting with an underutilized site, CESO's civil engineering and architecture teams worked together from the beginning to transform the property into a 4,184-square-foot branch designed around efficiency, visibility, and member experience. Building on an existing Kemba branch concept, our team reimagined the layout to reduce wasted space, improve circulation, and create a more intuitive experience for both members and staff. This integrated approach of our multi-disciplinary team allowed key decisions to be made earlier in the process and ensured the site and building functioned as one cohesive solution.
The project included complete site development, from grading and utility coordination to stormwater infrastructure designed for long-term performance. Architecturally, the branch balanced functionality with brand identity. A glass tower gives the branch a recognizable presence along the corridor, creating a strong visual presence throughout the day and into the evening, while interior features such as a fireplace lounge and a custom branded backlit lion element creates an environment that feels contemporary and uniquely Kemba. The strategic use of brand colors and materials also reinforced their identity throughout the space.
Throughout the project, CESO partnered closely with Kemba, the contractor, and local stakeholders to keep the project moving forward. When turnover within the local planning and zoning department created uncertainty around the approval process, our team helped navigate those challenges and maintain momentum. The South Lebanon branch is more than a new location; it represents a modernized operational model and the foundation of an ongoing partnership as Kemba continues to grow.
