Ohio State Route 42 & Utica Road
In order to address complicated traffic flow situations and alleviate potentially dangerous configurations involving U.S. 42, Utica, Greenbrier, and Hatfield Roads, the Warren County (Ohio) Engineer engaged CESO. At the time, the existing U.S. 42 and Utica Road intersection occurred at a skewed angle with Greenbrier Road intersecting Utica a mere 275 feet north of the U.S. 42/Utica intersection.
To complete the project and provide a far more acceptable configuration, the following tasks were necessary:
- Determination of existing right-of-way
- Preparation of plan and profile and cross section design
- Preparation of maintenance of traffic (MOT) plans, including detour plans
- Preparation of right-of-way take exhibits
- Completion of a sight distance analysis
- Establishment of horizontal and vertical control points for construction
- Removal and replacement of existing pavement
- Establishment of a new ditch section and new storm water outlet
- Preparation of erosion control plans
This culminated in the realignment of Utica Road, the extension of Greenbrier Road to intersect the newly aligned Utica Road and the truncation of Hatfield Road into a cul-de-sac.
